Chair of the Balboa Park Committee since 2017, Katherine Johnston described the ongoing planning projects, praising the City of San Diego Parks & Recreation department for their integral partnership.

Many initiatives are moving forward to form a Framework for the Future. Parks and Recreation Director Andy Field added that several years of study resulted in four initiatives now being addressed:

1) A Parkwide Survey that many Trustees participated in;

2) Prioritization of the framework;

3) Recommendations related to mobility, access, circulation, and parking; and

4) Benchmarking (comparisons) with other major parks in the country, regarding governance and finances.
